Carrington graduated from Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, where he averaged 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game as a senior. Ranked No. 99 by 247Sports, he scored over 2,000 points in his high school career and led his team to an 11-3 record in the Baltimore Catholic League for the 2022–23 season. Carrington was named to the First Team All-BCL and the BCL All-Tournament. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and joined the Pittsburgh Panthers men’s basketball team. He played 33 games in his freshman year, averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. Carrington was named to the ACC All-Rookie Team in 2024.
