Where did Dennis Schroder go to college?
Dennis Schroder

Dennis Schroder is a German professional basketball player who plays for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA. Born in Braunschweig, Germany in 1993, Schroder’s basketball journey began at Phantoms Braunschweig of the Basketball Bundesliga, the top professional basketball league in Germany.

The 30-year-old combo guard made his professional debut with Phantoms Braunschweig at 17 years old in the 2010/2011 season. Despite his young age, he made an immediate impact and established himself as one of the top young German talents. Over the next two seasons with the Phantoms, he continued to improve, increasing his scoring and assists averages each season. His quickness and playmaking ability earned him the German Basketball Bundesliga Best Young Player Award in 2013.

Dennis Schroder College

Despite his rapid rise as a professional player in Germany, Dennis Schroder never played college basketball in the United States. He was simply too talented and too much in demand as a teenager for any college to have a real chance at getting him.

Schroder entered the professional ranks at such a young age that college was never really an option for him. Still, even without playing college ball, Schroder impressed NBA scouts enough to become a first-round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft at just 19 years old.

Dennis Schroder NBA Draft

When Dennis Schroder entered the 2013 NBA Draft after a strong professional career in Germany, the young point guard was viewed as a talented playmaker with blazing speed and maturity beyond his years. The Atlanta Hawks selected Schroder with the 17th overall pick in 2013.

Now in his 11th NBA season, the veteran plays for the Toronto Raptors as a backup point guard. He is known for his acceleration, which he uses to blow by defenders to finish strongly at the rim. Schroder has also developed a reliable mid-range jumper, frequently scoring from the elbows.

At 6-foot-1, Schroder is known for playing pesky defense, relentlessly hounding opposition guards. By taking charges and disrupting passing lanes, Schroder displays his grittiness on the defensive side of the ball.

One of Schroder's best games in the recent past came in the 2022/2023 season, when he helped the LA Lakers reach the play-in tournament. In a must-win game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, he scored 21 points. He made a clutch go-ahead 3-point field goal in the final seconds off a pass from LeBron James.
