Duncan Robinson

Many fans last season butchered Duncan Robinson for not being able to make a three during crunch time. However, the fact still remains that he is the best three-point shooter the Heat have currently and he provides a lot of spacing for the team. He is a pure shooter and is known for his ability to make tough catch-and-shoot threes in the blink of an eye.

Robinson is the franchise leader for the total three-pointers made and is one of the core rotational pieces that the Heat value tremendously. Last season, coach Spoelstra (head coach for the Miami Heat) limited minutes for Robinson and he averaged a career-low in every major statistical category since his rookie season.

He was cold from the outside and Spoelstra decided to bench him last season. While he is one of the best coaches in the NBA, benching a player like Robinson who provides all the spacing that the Heat need, was not a great idea. Last season, the Heat were one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the NBA which made them battle all the way from the play-in tournament. Looking back, that might have not been the best decision coach Spo could have made.

This season, however, Robinson is looking for vengeance and is playing like he has something to prove. He is back to being a three-point sniper for the Heat and they are currently sitting at 4th in the Eastern Conference.

Duncan Robinson Career Averages

So far in his career, Robinson averages 11.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting at 48.1 per cent from the field, 43.3 per cent from the three-point line, and 90.0 per cent from the free throw line. Robinson is arguably a top 10 three-point shooter in the NBA who has knocked down the most threes for the Miami Heat franchise and is highly efficient in doing so.

Robinson looks like he is ready to take a leap this season as he is averaging 15.1 points on 43.3 per cent from beyond the arc. After being a reserved player for an entire season, it looks like he is ready to turn things around.

Standing at a height of 6 feet 7 inches, he has a whole lot to develop in his game. While shooting is his most important asset, that is about the only skill he has. If he is not shooting the ball well, Robinson becomes a liability on both sides of the ball. With his length, many expected him to be a good defender but that is far from the case.

How many threes does Duncan Robinson average?

In his career so far, Robinson averages 2.9 three-pointers made on 7.4 attempts. This makes him a career 39.9 per cent shooter.

Robinson has knocked down 870 three-pointers in his career and is a sniper from downtown. While there is still a lot of room for growth, he is one of the best and most efficient sharpshooters in the NBA.
