Jaxson Reed Hayes is a professional American basketball center for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2025 NBA season. Hayes began his basketball journey at Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Hayes went on to play collegiate basketball at the University of Texas, Austin, and earned recognition for his performances. One of these included being named Big 12 Freshman of the Year. Hayes declared for the NBA draft in 2019 and was selected as the eighth overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks. He was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, with whom he played for the first four seasons of his career. In 2023, Hayes moved to the Los Angeles Lakers, signing a two-year contract with the LeBron James-led team. Hayes provides much-needed energy and hustle to the Lakers team. He is playing his second season with the Lakers and has averaged 6.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game in the 2024-25 NBA regular season, as of April 21, 2025.
