Joe Mazzulla is an American head coach for the Boston Celtics as of April 2025 and a former basketball player as well. Mazzulla has previously played for the West Virginia men’s basketball team in the NCAA competition. Mazzulla has been the head coach of the Celtics for the third season as of April 2025 and already has clinched the NBA Championship in the 2023-24 season.
Mazzulla started his journey with the Boston Celtics as an assistant coach in 2019 and after three years of a stint, he became the temporary head coach for the Celtics for the 2022-23 season as their head coach, Ime Udoka, was suspended by the Celtics management staff for some allegations and violations of the team conduct. Mazzulla was later named to be the head coach for Team Giannis for the 2023 All-Star game and was also awarded the Eastern Conference coach of the month for two simultaneous months (October and November). Seeing his thriving performance, the Celtics staff opted for him as the official head of the franchise.
