Luguentz Dort is a Canadian professional basketball shooting guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2025 NBA season. Dort originally went undrafted in 2019, but he later signed a contract with the City Thunder. His dominant defensive style has earned him the nickname "the Dorture Chamber." As of March 2025, he has participated in 357 games with the Oklahoma City Thunder, starting 348 of them, and averaged 12.2 points, 1.6 assists, and 3.9 rebounds, as per Basketball Reference.

Born on April 19, 1999, Dort hails from Montreal, Quebec, in Canada. He went to Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville, where he began his basketball journey. For his junior season, he transferred to Conrad Academy in Orlando. For his senior season, he attended Athlete Institute, graduating as a five-star recruit by ESPN. He enrolled at Arizona State University for one season in 2018-19. During his first season at Arizona State, he was selected to the Pac-12's All-Defensive team and made the Second team All-Pac-12 Conference. Furthermore, he was named Freshman of the Year after averaging 16.1 points, 2.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds while playing in 34 games and starting 33 of them, as per Arizona State's official website.

Concussion protocol (Mar 2021)

Luguentz Dort had sustained a concussion during an Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Boston Celtics game on March 27, 2021, and he had missed seven games as a result. According to the official NBA website, the team declared that he had been added to the NBA's concussion protocol.

Thus, Dort began the Return-to-Participation Protocol, which is required under the NBA's Concussion Policy. This procedure consists of a number of actions intended to guarantee that an athlete is symptom-free prior to returning to basketball-related activities. There is no set schedule for finishing the procedure because every player and injury is different. He made a comeback on April 10 in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers, as per Basketball Reference.

Shoulder injury (Feb 2022)

The Oklahoma City Thunder declared on March 8, 2022, that Dort would miss the rest of the season due to surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, as per CBS Sports. He sustained the shoulder injury on February 12, 2022, in an Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Chicago Bulls game. He was expected to fully recover in time for the 2022–23 season to begin, which he did, even though he missed the rest of the 2021–22 season.

Hamstring injury (Jan 2023)

Dort suffered a hamstring injury on January 25, 2023, during the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Atlanta Hawks game. After missing six games in a row, he made his comeback on February 10 against the Portland Blazers, according to Basketball Reference.
