Payton Pritchard is an American basketball player who has carved a niche for himself as an invaluable bench point guard for the Boston Celtics in the NBA.

Born on January 28, 1998, Pritchard was a four-star rated high school prospect and won four consecutive state titles at West Linn High School in West Linn, Oregon. He then went on to play for Oregon University where he established himself as a scoring point guard. Due to his tremendous speed, everyone started calling him “Fast PP”, a nickname that is stuck to this day.

As a senior in college, Pritchard averaged an impressive 20.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Ducks. His outstanding play earned him numerous accolades, including the Pac-12 Player of the Year award and a spot as a consensus All-American selection.

Additionally, he was honored with the prestigious Bob Cousy Award as the nation's top point guard, capping off his collegiate career in style. Moreover, Payton Pritchard holds the record of Oregon's all-time assists leader, boasting an impressive tally of 659 assists in four years.

Eventually, Pritchard was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 2020 NBA draft with the 26th overall pick in the first round. Since being drafted, Pritchard has been a steady backup point guard for the Celtics. On April 9, 2023, in the final game of the 2022–23 NBA season, Pritchard showcased his potential in a standout performance against the Atlanta Hawks by achieving his first career triple-double as he lodged a stat line of 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. Currently, Pritchard is a crucial part of the Celtics bench. The contract that Celtics offered him in 2023 shows their faith in him.
