
Sion James, born on December 4, 2002, is an American college basketball player who played for the Duke Blue Devils in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in the 2024-2025 season. James attended Lanier High School in Sugar Hill, Georgia, where he was a two-time winner of the Region 8A Player of the Year award and the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association's 6A Co-Player of the Year (2020) award.
After graduating from high school, James started his collegiate basketball career at Tulane University before transferring to Duke University. Over his four seasons with the Green Wave, he played in 124 games, starting 106 of them. In his junior season (2023-24), he averaged 14.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, shooting 51.4% from the field and 68.3% from the free-throw line. James won the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Sportsmanship Award twice, in 2023 and 2024, making him the first player to achieve this distinction consecutively. He also served as the chair of the AAC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two terms. Apart from football, James completed 350 hours of community service at Tulane, receiving the Newcomb-Tulane College Student-Athlete Award and the Freeman School of Business Dean's Service Award.
