Al Horford is a basketball player who plays in the NBA for the Boston Celtics. The 6 feet 9 inch Horford plays as a power forward/center and has been in the NBA for over 15 years now. Horford’s playing career began in high school, where he attended Grand Ledge High School in Michigan. In the senior year of High school, Horford averaged 21 points to go along with 13 rebounds and five blocks per game and was thus honored as “Class Player of the Year”. After finishing his high school career, Horford decided to play college basketball for the University of Florida, rejecting a multitude of approaches from various universities, including the University of Michigan. Horford made an immediate impact as he helped the Florida Gators win the Southeast Conference tournament Championship in 2005. In his sophomore and junior years, Horford played a significant part in helping the Gators win the two consecutive NCAA Championships in 2006 and 2007.

After winning the 2007 NCAA Championship, Horford declared for the NBA draft, where he was selected by the Atlanta Hawks as a third overall pick. In his rookie season with the Hawks, Horford made it to the NBA All-Rookie- First team and also was a close second in the NBA rookie of the year race that season. A five-time NBA All-Star has been with a multitude of teams over his career, including the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Horford has also been a part of the NBA All-Defensive Second team with the Celtics in 2018. In the 2023/24 season, after over 15 years of hard work Horford won the NBA Championship for the first time in his career with the Boston Celtics and was an important part of their team as he averaged 9.2 points, 7 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 39.1% from the three point range during the 2023/24 playoffs.
