Tyrese Kendrid Maxey is an American professional basketball player who plays as a shooting guard and sometimes even as a point guard for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA.

Born November 4, 2000, in Dallas, Texas, Tyrese Maxey was born into a sport-enthusiastic family. His father Tyrone Maxey was a former college basketball player, who turned to coaching after his playing career.

Maxey attended the South Garland High School in his hometown and was integral in helping them win their first-ever Texas State High School basketball tournament in 2018. He graduated from high school as a five-star recruit as early as his sophomore year. After entertaining numerous offers, Maxey finally decided to sign with the University of Kentucky in May 2018. He famously scored a record 26 points in his collegiate debut, a school record for a freshman debut.

Maxey was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2020 NBA draft after a couple of fantastic seasons in college. Picked up by them 21st overall, Maxey quickly established himself on their roster. He made his Sixers debut on December 23, 2020, and quickly found himself in the starting line-up with Ben Simmons' ongoing transfer saga at that point.

In the 2022/23 season, Maxey averaged 20.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He shot 48.1% from the field, including 43.4% from deep.
