Jaylin Smith, an American football cornerback, spent his entire collegiate career with the USC Trojans and decided to enter the 2025 NFL Draft. Smith started his high school football career at Bishop Alemany High School, where he played as a cornerback, wide receiver, and running back. Jaylin Smith was rated a four-star recruit by every major sports outlet and recorded 60 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and two interceptions as a junior. He was ranked the Top 300 overall player in the 2021 recruiting class and picked USC over offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Clemson, Michigan, LSU, Oregon, Texas, and several other top programs.

In his true freshman year with the Trojans, Smith saw action in 10 games at safety and on special teams. The defender from Palmdale finished the 2021 season with 11 tackles, two tackles for losses, one interception, and a forced fumble. In 2022, as a sophomore, Smith posted 37 tackles and two pass breakups while appearing in 11 games. 2023 was a breakout campaign for the junior cornerback, as he recorded 75 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble while appearing in all 12 games on the year. Last season, Smith returned as a veteran in the Trojan secondary to play his final year of college football and posted 59 combo tackles with four tackles for loss (via Sports Reference).
