Blake Corum was the third running back chosen, following Texas' Jonathan Brooks (No. 46, Carolina Panthers) and Florida State's Trey Benson (No. 66, Arizona Cardinals).
Corum played for four seasons with the Wolverines, winning three Big Ten titles and a national title. He will be reunited with his former college coach Jim Harbaugh with the Rams.
Blake Corum had an exceptional college career, finishing with school records for rushing touchdowns (58) and scoring (366 points). In 45 games, he had 675 carries for 3,737 yards (5.5 yards per carry). He also had 51 catches, 338 yards and three touchdowns.
In 2024, he was part of the national championship-winning team, rushing for 1,028 yards and an FBS-leading 27 touchdowns while averaging 79.1 yards per game and 4.7 yards.
Sean McVay sees echoes of Kyren Williams in Blake Corum's game
Rams coach Sean McVay spoke highly of his new running back, comparing Blake Corum to the Rams' current star Kyren Williams, who had 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns rushing last season.
"For me, one of the things that jumped off is there's a lot of traits that reminded me of Kyren Williams," McVay said. “Obviously, Kyren will put Blake under his arm and be a great mentor and kind of a leader.”
McVay praised Corum and credited Ron Gould, the Rams' running backs coach, and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur for their enthusiasm about Corum's potential.
“I just remember even talking to a bunch of our coaches when the College Football Playoff was started and watching him and the impact he had on the Alabama game,” McVay said.
“That's a tough defense, back and forth, and then in crunch time, in the overtime period, he makes a great run where he's inside and moves it back out and is able to finish it that ultimately ended up being the game-winning play.”
The coach believes that Blake Corum has a lot to offer the LA Rams and will be a valuable addition.
