White III attended high school at Marietta where he recorded 55 receptions for 1,006 yards and 13 touchdowns in his senior year. White began his college career with the Michigan State Spartans in 2020. The 2020 season gave White a breakthrough game where he made eight receptions for 196 yards and a touchdown helping his side defeat Michigan.

In addition to this, White also set a Michigan State freshman record for receiving yards following his 196 receiving yards. He appeared in just three games in the season and made ten catches for 223 yards and one touchdown.

In 2021, White did not see any game time and entered the transfer portal at the end of the season. He joined the UNLV Rebels, where White recorded eight receptions for 182 yards and two touchdowns in week one of the 2022 season, defeating Idaho State. He had 51 receptions for 619 yards and four touchdowns overall that year.

White had 88 receptions for 1,483 yards and eight touchdowns in the 2023 season, for which he was named third-team All-American by the Associated Press.
