Tyler Shough is an American quarterback who concluded his college football career as a graduate with the Louisville Cardinals in 2024. He played three seasons with the Texas Tech Red Raiders before joining the Cardinals. He was labeled as a 4-star recruit by both 247Sports and ESPN. An elite quarterback prospect out of Hamilton High School. During his high school career, he had 3,000-plus yards with 30 touchdowns as a senior. For that performance, he was recognized in the first-team 6A Premier League honors. Shough's performance at the Elite 11 camp was highly acknowledged; he was renowned as the No.1 prospect in the state of Arizona. He had previously committed to the University of Oregon before transferring to Texas Tech. He played as the first-choice quarterback during the 2020 season. He had an important role in helping the Ducks reach the Pac-12 Championship. He also made a significant cameo in the Fiesta Bowl.
Tyler Shough had an impactful 2022 season, leading Texas Tech. The quarterback had just recovered from a shin injury and immediately helped the Red Raiders to an unbeaten record. He started in five games out of 7 and completed 106 passes out of 177 for 1,304 yards with seven touchdowns. His performance peaked during the final game of the regular season when they played against Oklahoma. Shough threw for a career-best 436 yards, he also rushed for 269 yards and four touchdowns to become the team's third-leading rusher. He ended his Red Raiders career with a prominent display as an MVP in the TaxAct Texas Bowl.
