Tyler Shough is an American football quarterback who played his seventh college season with the Louisville Cardinals in 2024. He started playing high school football at Hamilton High School, where he was rated a consensus four-star recruit by all major sports outlets. Tyler Shough participated with the nation’s top quarterbacks in the Elite 11 camp. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound quarterback was rated the No.1 player in the state of Arizona by Rivals and 247 Sports.
He embarked on his collegiate football journey with the Oregon Ducks. As a freshman in 2018 with the Ducks, Shough appeared in three games before redshirting the year. The following year, as a redshirt freshman, Shough came off the bench eight times and recorded only 144 yards and three touchdowns. In 2020, Shough earned the starting quarterback role and also saw action in the Pac-12 Championship game against USC. In 2021, he entered the transfer portal to commit to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
In his next three years at Lubbock, Shough passed for 2,922 yards and 20 touchdowns despite missing parts of those seasons with injuries. In 2023, he was sidelined for six games with a shoulder injury and later announced his intention to enter the transfer portal for the second time. Shough transferred to the Louisville Cardinals to play his final season of college football in 2024. Last season, Shough passed for a career-high 3,195 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions (via ESPN).
