Mumbai - With India’s flamboyant left-hander Yuvraj Singh back in training after undergoing operation for rare germ cell cancer, chief selector Kris Srikkanth was hopeful that the 2010 World Cup man-of-the-series could make it for Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.

Srikkanth said Wednesday that the team for the event starting Sept 18, would be picked later this month.

“Yuvraj has started practice, which is a very good thing. A guy who has won the World Cup should come back. We are all hoping for that. We want Yuvraj back for T20 WC,” Srikkanth said Wednesday.

“We still have time. The squad will be picked later this month,” he added.

The 1983 World Cup winner said he was in constant touch with head coach Duncan Fletcher over the composition of the team.

“One good thing is that Duncan Fletcher is with us. We have discussions over phone. They are healthy discussions,” he said.

Yuvraj, who recently started practice, is undergoing a rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
