Dragon Ball Z news: New DBZ Action RPG in the works

OVER 9000... different fighting games!!

Fans of the Dragon Ball franchise have been anxiously awaiting a game that's not a fighting game for years now. While the latest title, Dragon Ball FighterZ, has been very well received, both by critics and players alike (we like it, too), it's still a fighting game. How long are we going to have to wait to enjoy the adventures of Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and... you know... all those other guys, in a different genre?

Well, according to the Twitter account of the DBZ games' publisher, that wait might not be very long at all. (Or, it could be really long, when you consider delays and setbacks and things like..... you know what? I'm just going to keep going.) [H/T IGN]

In a tweet from earlier today, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe made the announcement of a new Dragon Ball action RPG starting development this year.

Under the working title "Dragon Ball Game Project Z" it will be a "New [g]ame focusing on the [w]orld of Dragon Ball Z." As the graphic indicates (and as we've stated a couple of times now), it will be an action RPG - although, considering the source material, martial arts combat will probably make up a large part of the "action" part.

While no other details have been announced yet, the tweet did state that more will be announced during the finals of the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour in Los Angeles, January 26th and 27th.

Speaking of Dragon Ball FighterZ, the announcement tweet also made mention of a new addition to the fighting game's roster. Only identified as "the Warrior from Universe 11", some fans are speculating that it could mean Jiren. Which, I'm going to have to take their word for it. I haven't watched DBZ since I was in college and that was, like, forever ago.
