Liverpool currently have one of the most well-balanced squads in the Premier League. This newfound rigour in the team can be attributed to some successful transfer deals over the past few seasons.

Jurgen Klopp's club was the biggest spender in England this summer, with £177 million splashed on new recruits.

And as we all know most of these big money moves turned out favourably for the Reds, with the likes of Salah (£37.8m), Van Dijk (£70.92m) and Alisson (£56.25m) proving themselves to be value for money.

Surprisingly, this hasn't always been the case at Anfield. Over the years, some the biggest signings of the club have flopped miserably for The Kop.

Benteke, Andy Carroll, Markovic are just some of the ill-fated signings who have failed to resurrect their careers after moving to the Merseyside.

Well, there are some players who have not only left their disastrous spell at Anfield behind and moved on but have made a name for themselves elsewhere and are on fire right now.

So, let us take a look at the three former Liverpool players, who are having the best season of their lives right now away from the Anfield.

#3 Iago Aspas

The rise of the now Celta Vigo striker to prominence remains one of the best comebacks in contemporary football history.

Iago Aspas, signed up for Liverpool in 2013 on the back of his successful campaigns with Celta, in which he scored 35 league goals as the Os Celestes gained promotion to the Spanish first division in 2012 and survived relegation the next season.

His move to Anfield was anything but disastrous. He was given the #9 jersey by Brendan Rogers but failed to score a single goal for the Reds in the Premier League.

Following a disappointing spell in England, he was sent back to his homeland initially on loan to Sevilla in 2014, who sold him back to his boyhood club Celta in 2015.

The much-awaited return of the Spaniard to his hometown club turned out to be a success, with the striker featuring in the top 5 goalscorers in La Liga for the past two seasons and claiming the Zarra trophy on both occasions.

This season, he has already found the back of the net 8 times in 12 appearances for the club, making him one of the deadliest strikers in Europe at the moment.

He has been selected for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures in the Spanish National side.

#2 Peter Gulacsi

Peter Gulacsi, a member of the RB Leipzig team that earned an unprecedented promotion to the Bundesliga in 2016, was bought by Liverpool as a teenager in 2007 from MTK Budapest.

Gulacsi was at Liverpool for six years and did not make a single first-team appearance. Eventually, the Hungarian left Anfield on a free transfer in 2013 following series of loan spells with lower division clubs.

His career revival from a third choice goalkeeper at Anfield to a Champions League and Europa League starter for Die Rotten Bullen has truly been a dream come true for the player who at one point of time looked sure to go down as one of the many young talents who never realized their potential.

This season, he has been an impenetrable wall at the back of Leipzig defence, having kept 6 clean sheets in 11 league matches and shipping in only 9 goals in the process.

Last season, the reputed German magazine, Kicker voted him as the best in the business for the first half of the season, ahead of the likes of Horn, Casteels and Baumann.

#1 Suso

Suso, the in-form AC Milan winger, was one of the hottest prospects at the Kop academy, having signed his first professional contract with Liverpool as a 17-year old.

You know a player has been excellent when Real Madrid express 'their desire' in signing him. Once a forgotten talent, the AC Milan star is now being linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe (h/t Calciomercato).

The Spaniard had failed to score a goal for Liverpool in the Premier League. To be fair, he never got to showcase his real potential at Anfield with his appearances limited by players like Coutinho, Sturridge and Sterling all ahead of him in the pecking order.

In 2013, he was loaned to Spanish side UD Almeria, where he showed glimpses of brilliance, assisting 9 goals and scoring 3 in 33 league matches.

What followed this loan spell was a permanent move to AC Milan, where he struggled for the first couple of seasons, but had established himself as a key player under Vincenzo Montella last season.

Still only 24, the winger has been a revelation this season in Serie A, scoring 4 goals in 12 appearances and amassing 8 assists on the go for I Rossoneri.

His performances earned him a well-deserved call-up for the Nations League fixtures from Luis Enrique, thus his best season keeps on getting better and better.
