5 loan signings Arsenal should consider in January

With the Gunners looking to strengthen in January, here are 5 players they could take temporarily on loan.Alvaro Morata

He has been linked with Arsenal for a while now, and it is unlikely Real Madrid will want to let him go permanently, so a loan move could be on the cards. Fast, strong, skillful and sharp finishing would see him fit straight into the Arsenal set-up and give Giroud some much needed competition. The only stumbling block is that Arsenal may want more than just a loan, while Carlo Ancelotti sees him as part of Madrid’s future.

Demba Ba

JOe Hart's tackle or Demba Ba's dive?

A player who came close to joining the Gunners on the summer transfer deadline day, Arsenal wanted the Senegalese striker on loan with the option to buy, while Chelsea wanted a straight sale for the former Newcastle man. However, a deal could be negotiated in January, with the only doubt being that the two clubs value him at quite different amounts.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Liverpool are also thought to be interested in taking the Bayern Munich winger on loan, but as Liverpool aren’t in the Champions League this season, it gives them an advantage as he would be cup-tied for the Gunners, who will face the Bavarian giants in the last 16. Quick, hard working and skillful, the former FC Basel man has a very team player mentality and would fit into Arsenalwithout much of a problem.

Alexandre Pato

He has been on the Arsenal radar for quite a while now, and a transfer in January does look very likely for the former AC Milan striker, but the problems are regarding a permanent transfer, but considering his lack of consistency and also injuries being a constant problem, it may be smarter for Arsene Wenger to propose a loan with the option to buy deal, before paying a double figure fee for a player who has already flopped at the highest level.

Edin Dzeko

Manchester City’s current crop of strikers are all good enough to start, but as Manuel Pellegrini prefers a loan striker system, the rest are struggling to get a game with Sergio Aguero’s current form. Dzeko will want to be getting constant action before the World Cup next summer to keep his fitness levels up and also to ensure himself a place in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s starting XI and a loan deal would be preferable for both the parties. Even a player as good as Negredo has been a second fiddle behind in the inform Sergio Aguero, a move to Arsenal would prove to be a good option for the Bosnian International.
