German sports manufacturer Adidas hopes to tie down the services of the world’s most expensive player, Gareth Bale, with a new multi-million pound offer. The Daily Mail reports.

Real Madrid’s newest signing Gareth Bale has been using Adidas since his Southhampton days and company hopes to continue their association with the Welsh Wizard.

Adidas we’re hesitant to make Bale the face of their brand due to the player not featuring in a single Champions League match or World cup during his time at Tottenham Hotspur.

Now that the 24-year-old has joined Real Madrid, a team Adidas sponsors, the brand are eager to ward off interest from rivals Nike who have Bale’s new team mate Cristiano Ronaldo as the face of their brand.

An adidas source said: ‘We are confident that we can keep Gareth, who has always been very loyal to the brand. But the deal has to be right for both of us. It helps that we have the experience of handling David Beckham when he was at Real Madrid.’
