Brendan Rodgers signs new contract at Liverpool

Liverpool FC extends Brendan Rodgers’ contract

Liverpool have announced that Brendan Rodgers has signed a new contract at the club today, rounding off a remarkable season for the club. The deal is reported to be a four-year deal, lasting up to 2018.

Rodgers joined the club from Swansea City in June 2012 and after struggling during his first season at the club, leading the Reds to seventh-place, the Northern Irishman however, led Liverpool to second-place this season. The Reds were pipped to the title by Manchester City on the last day of the season.

Liverpool announced the news via their official Twitter page.

Rodgers told the official site: “I want to say a big thank you to the fans because they have been patient with me and the team. Their support for me is vital.

“It’s a huge privilege for me to manage this club and to have been offered the opportunity to carry on with the work.”
