Chris Coleman wants Gareth Bale's security to be beefed up

Gareth Bale‘s recent security lapse will not be investigated by the Football Association of Wales after they issued a statement confirming the news.

The 24-year-old, who has become the most expensive player in the world after completing a €100m move to Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur, was on the bench as Wales went down 2-1 to Macedonia and was approached by two fans who managed to pass through security during half time.

The FAW confirmed that it would not order an investigation feeling that the responsibility lay with the Macedonia authorities, who failed to maintain a proper vigil and allowed the incident to take place.

In an interview with Press Association Sport a FAW spokesperson said:

“There won’t be a review. The Macedonians had the responsibility for the stadium security. We are happy with our security but we may have to adapt in the future.”

Gareth Bale must get used to receiving such attention wherever he goes, due to him being in the spotlight after his £100 million transfer to Real Madrid, becoming the most expensive player in the world in the process.

Chris Coleman, manager of Wales, stated that the Welsh authorities will have to take extra precautions when in charge of protecting Bale.

“We have to sit down and plan differently how we do things because that is what is going to happen.”

“Gareth has been a great player for two or three years but he’s gone to the club where he has with a record move.

“We have to control the circus, its new territory. We have to handle it and we will. We have people here to look after the players; we’ve had more this week for obvious reasons.

“We’re all proud of Bale and we have to accept what is coming when he is with us. We can’t let people use it as a tool against us. I’d rather have it than not.”

Bale has scored 11 goals in 41 appearances for Wales.
