Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has said that Spanish giants Barcelona wanted to sign him and had made contact with him but he left the Anfield club to make the choice for him, which they flatly refused.

“The decision to let me go to Barca was for Liverpool and the club would not sell me”, he was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur.

“So that was that. We can always talk about that later”, the Danish national added.

“I am hungry for trophies and I think it is possible to win them.I do not know if I am leaving Liverpool. Now I have two and a half years to go. It is my intention to see through my contract.

“We have a great team and Liverpool is a massive club,” concluded the defender.
