Dutch duo snub Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur v Hull City - Premier League

No more laughs!

It seems nothing is going Tottenham’s way these days. After loosing star man Gareth Bale in the summer and spending around a whopping £100 million, still find themselves languishing in the middle of the English Premier League; which recently led to the sacking of Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas. Now, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been dealt a double Dutch snub.

Yesterday, Ajax boss Frank De Boer’s agent revealed that Spurs have made inquiries about him, but the Ajax boss has insisted he is not leaving the Dutch champions. The North London club were also believed to have sounded out former Holland boss Guus Hiddink but the ex-Chelsea caretaker manager has also turned them down

De Boer was Franco Baldini’s(Tottenham director of football) first choice to succeed Andre Villas-Boas, but the Dutchman is reluctant to leave mid-season.

Guido Albers, De Boer’s agent said: “Through a number of sources it has become clear to me Spurs are interested, but that club haven’t contacted Ajax so far.

“So we can’t say much about it now. Frank isn’t thinking about it. He is fully focused on Ajax.”

Hiddink, 67, is likely to wait until after taking charge of Holland post the World Cup, although Baldini may try to wait for a fresh approach for De Boer further down the line. It leaves the Spurs hierarchy in complete disarray about their next appointment,.

That could mean that caretaker boss Tim Sherwood gets a long run as stand-in boss at White Hart Lane despite his disappointing start after the Capital One Cup defeat to West Ham. Baldini is believed to be championing De Boer for his style of play and management philosophy, although Levy rates Sherwood highly and would like to see him succeed.
