Gameweek 5 Preview: TAL 'Crystal Ball'

Will the Horizons be able to keep out Gremio?

We are moving swiftly through the games and with Gameweek 5 upon us, we look at where the teams stand. Parikrma and Horizons lead the pack while Supernova are in third. Only 3 points separate fourth placed Project 7 and 8th placed Mavericks. Meanwhile, Rare Dare are in 9th along with Samba though both have a game in hand. FC Kougen Kikou sit in 11th while Mercurial FC are at the bottom without a point to their name.

This week has one of the most awaited games of the season when Horizons FC take on Gremio FC. Other games include Project 7- Mavericks, Yataghan-Rare Dare and Flipkart-Samba. Leaders Parikrma take on FC Kougen Kikou while Mercurial will look to stretch Supernova the way they did the Horizons last time around.

8.30 AM: Mavericks FC v Project 7

We kick things off for the day with the match between Project 7 and Mavericks FC. Project 7 have been in good form, coming into this one as the 4th placed team. This can be attributed to their defence, in particular, which has been solid this season. With Mavericks struggling to find the back of the net on a consistent basis, they may find it hard to breach the opposition defence yet again. Going by current form, one can safely put their bets on Project 7 to clinch this one.

Crystal Ball: Mavericks FC (1) - (2) Project 7

10:00 AM: Mercurial FC v Supernova FC

The game between Supernova FC and Mercurial FC is up next at 10 AM. Supernova conceded their first points last week, losing some ground in the title race. They have not been in top form either, unlike last season when they were swatting aside any challenge in their path.

Mercurial finally came together as a team against Horizons last week and will seek a repeat of that performance. Supernova meanwhile, will not want any more slip-ups and will want to get maximum points out of this one.

Crystal Ball: Mercurial FC (1) – (2) Supernova FC

11:30 AM: Yataghan Internazionale v Rare Dare FC

Next up is the intriguing game between two evenly matched sides- Yataghan and Rare Dare FC. Rare Dare look a good outfit despite their loss last week to Project 7- probably the result of suspensions to some of the key players in their squad.

They will have to contend with the same scenario this week too as they face Yataghan, who will no doubt be gunning for all three points. Yataghan will go into this one with a slight edge over their opponents although a draw is a more realistic possibility.

Crystal Ball: Yataghan Internazionale (1) – (1) Rare Dare FC

1:15 PM: Flipkart FC v Samba FC

Flipkart and Samba kick off post-lunch proceedings in an action packed afternoon. Samba have flattered to deceive so far after promising much in their opening games against Gremio and Supernova. They have created very few chances and have scored none, but their saving grace has been their defence, which has seen them concede just the 1 goal in three games.

Flipkart on the other hand, are riding high after two consecutive wins. Based on current form, Flipkart are clear favorites to win this one unless Samba can come up with a way to stop Flipkart’s star striker Pavan Powar.

Crystal Ball: Flipkart FC (0) - (0) Samba FC

2:45 PM: Horizons FC v Gremio FC

The most awaited game of the day features Horizons FC and Gremio FC. Horizons FC have managed to barely cross the line in each game and the aura of past invincibility seems to have vanished. Oppositions now believe that they are there for the taking and this was seen in the last couple of games.

Gremio meanwhile will be highly disappointed after pushing Parikrma to the limit in their previous encounter and still coming away with nothing. This is another chance to redeem themselves and they will have take confidence from their previous showing. All in all, it makes for a lip-smacking game with some interesting subplots to add flavor. This might just be the first major upset of the season, but Horizons still go into the game as favourites.

Crystal Ball: Horizons FC (2) - (1) Gremio FC

4:15 PM: FC Kougen Kikou v Parikrma FC

The final game of the day sees Parikrma face FC Kougen Kikou. FC Kougen Kikou is another of those teams whose results quite do not match up to their performances and are currently sitting at a lowly 11th. Parikrma, like Horizons, have waned in form and are no longer handing out the swashbuckling performances we are accustomed to seeing from them.

However, with Horizons handed a tough game this week, this might be just the right time to steal a march on their title rivals and go out and win this game. FC Kougen Kikou though, are no pushovers and will make their opposition sweat for the three points.

Crystal Ball: FC Kougen Kikou (0) – (1) Parikrma FC
