Real Madrid new boy Gareth Bale, who made a return from injury in the 2-0 victory over Malaga, is eager to make an impact for his new club, FIFA.com reports.

The 24-year-old was on the bench for most of the match but managed to win a penalty, which was converted by Cristiano Ronaldo, in the dying minutes of the game and in the process helped his team to a 2-0 victory.

Bale’s life in the Spanish capital has been ravaged with injuries coming on just four times for his club so far. Reports of a slipped disc injury we’re shot down by the player, who scored a goal on his debut for Los Blancos.

“It was just a little thigh strain that was blown massively out of proportion,” Bale told Real Madrid TV. “It is just a minor injury and I’m back now.

“I’ve not had a lot of game time, pre-season, training or running, so you pick up little niggles. I have to take one step at a time. I’ve not had much training or games. It’s all about building me up now.”

Arch-rivals Barcelona were held to a goalless draw by Osasuna giving Madrid, who welcome Juventus to the Bernabeu in the Champions League next week, enough time to catch up. Madrid will head to the Nou Camp on October 26 to play the crucial El Clasico, which will see them join Barcelona on top of the table if they win.

The Wales international is raring to play both the matches.

“I need to introduce myself now and prepare myself right for the rest of the season,” he said. “It was massively important to get a win today. We played well throughout whole game and we’re now looking forward to next two games.”
