Gary Neville has revealed his delight at Manchester United completing the signing of Luke Shaw, but has warned against expecting too much from the youngster too soon, believing it may take time for the left-back to be a success at Old Trafford.

Shaw has undergone a medical ahead of a big money move to United after a protracted chase throughout the summer, with failure to secure his transfer before the World Cup ensuring a months delay in proceedings.

With England having secured an early exit form the World Cup after being knocked out in the group stages, Shaw has now returned to England and his transfer to United is set to completed, with a season expected by some for him to establish himself as the first choice left-back for the club, under the guidance of Patrice Evra.

Evra signed a new one-year deal to remain at Old Trafford for a further season to assist the transition for Shaw into a premier player and Neville is very much in favour of the move by United, feeling the Southampton youngster will emerge as a fine player after some time to settle on such an expectant stage.

Luke Shaw made 61 successful tackles for Southampton last season, winning 59% of his contested challenges.
