Conte is looking to bring in competition for his fullbacks Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso and is interested in signing the 23-year-old from Valencia.

Conte describes Matic sale as a great loss

Antonio Conte, speaking to Sky Sports at the Premier League launch, revealed that he considers Matic's departure as a great loss. He said, "Matic knows very well what I think about him. The importance for me about this player, who is a really good player, a top player, very important for our team, but sometimes you must accept this crazy transfer market. And sometimes you must accept different decisions. But he is a great loss for us."

Chelsea pursue Danny Drinkwater

Chelsea are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater as a replacement for Nemanja Matic, with youngster Lewis Baker also set to depart on loan.

Matic's move to Manchester United recently has left the club in dire need of a defensive midfielder. Bakayoko is injured and will miss the first few games of the season as well and hence Conte is looking at other options.
