Man United legend: £85m ex-Spurs attacker is doing an “incredible job” at Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he is firmly in the Gareth Bale fan club after the Welshman’s recent performances for the Spanish giants.

Bale struggled to recreate his Tottenham form in the early stages of his Madrid career, but after scoring against Sevilla, the pacy winger has gone on to score 9 goals in 13 games.

The Madrid fans weren’t feeling the love for Bale when he first arrived in Spain but his scintillating form has seen him settle in well with the locals.

“Gareth is doing an incredible job,” said Ronaldo, who is favourite to win next month’s Ballon D’Or ahead of Lionel Messi. “He had a tough start, amongst other things because he suffered a small injury which ruled him out of several games.

“Plus, the pressure at Real Madrid is huge. But he’s on the right track now and we’re helping him.”

Ronaldo’s interview, reported Spanish newspaper Marca, went on to say: “The fans love him and he’s a fantastic player who will help us win trophies.”

Bale scored his first hat-trick for the club in their win over Valladolid recently.

Bale has scored 24% of his chances in La Liga so far. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 20% of his this season.
