"Just let him f***ing defend" - Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke urges Ten Hag to use 26-year-old star differently

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has urged the team to keep faith in Aaron Wan-Bissaka amid reports that the Red Devils are pursuing Jeremie Fringpong. The English defender has been criticized for his ability going forward, but Yorke believes that his defensive mindset is an advantage for United.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Crypto Casino LTD, the former goal machine urged the team to stay put with Wan-Bissaka, saying:

"If Jeremie Frimpong is a bit fragile defensively, then he'll be bought for a certain system by the manager. Nowadays, fullbacks play much higher up the pitch and can play in all types of systems, but I don't know how Erik ten Hag wants to play.
"Man United already have a good right back in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but you can say he's the opposite of Frimpong, great defensively but not that great going forward."

The former Manchester United star added:

“When we attack, we should be letting Wan Bissaka sit back and offer more defensive protection, handling the one v one on the wing. But instead, he's told to bomb up the wing and try to take on a player, which he can't do. Erik ten Hag should take away Wan-Bissaka's attacking duties and make him defend, then they can have some solidarity in the defence.
"Instead, Wan-Bissaka, who doesn't score or create, run around like a headless chicken in the opposition box, running in his teammates' way. It's not rocket science, watching this unfold is crazy. The one thing you need in the defence is to be able to defend one v one. Just let him f***ing defend."

Wan-Bissaka has made 24 appearances across competitions for Manchester United this season and provided three assists.

Meanwhile, Yorke is a beloved figure in Manchester United. The Trinidad and Tobago striker bagged 66 goals and 32 assists in 152 games across four years from 1998-2002. He was part of the Red Devils treble winning squad and will hope his appeals will help convince the club to keep faith in Wan-Bissaka.

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag to continue backing Marcus Rashford

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag continues to back Marcus Rashford despite his poor season this campaign. The England international has been a shadow of himself since just one year ago and has labored to eight goals in 40 games across competitions this season. Last year he bagged 30 goals in 56 games along with 10 assists.

Speaking in his pre-match conference before the Red Devils take on Burnley, the Dutch manager backed Rashford, saying:

"I've a lot of sympathy for Rashy, of course. Last year, he had a brilliant season. I think the best season in his career, he scored 30 goals. This season, he didn't give the performances and people have been very criticial.
"We have to back him and everyone should back him to get back to the levels of last year. Think he needs the support. We all know what he's capable of, we all have to support and push him. He can do better than this year. We saw last year when he was really brilliant."

Rashford will hope to pay back his manager's faith in the upcoming weeks as he might not have the time to do so in the future. Ten Hag is reportedly in the crosshairs of Manchester United's management after a poor season. They are en route to match their worst-ever Premier League finish this term.
