Spanish papers Marca and El Mundo has launched an attack on newly acquired Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil who was formerly a part of Real Madrid.

The German playmaker was sold to the Gunners for a price of £42.5million on deadline day – a move which was the talking point of the whole world. But the Spanish papers have claimed that Real Madrid were more than happy to part with the player because of his lazy attitude and also because of his persisting interest in ex-Miss Venezuela Aida Yespica.

El Mundo has accused the 24 year old player of tiring himself out by sleeping with various beauties during his stay in the Spanish club. The report claims that Ozil would fly to Italy or Paris at any possible chance to meet the 31 year old model and this hampered his playing stamina and perfomance. This made him a clear target for the club officials and according to Marca, the club could not wait to get rid of the midfielder. El Mundo reported: ‘The early morning trips, extended to the last minute of passion, led to a down which affected his performances.’

Mesut Ozil has responded to these reports by telling the German site Die Welt that he would have joined Arsenal for free. Ozil stated the reason behind this comment as the lack of trust and respect at the Los Brancos and the playmaker is more than happy to play for Arsene Wenger whom he has always admired.

Ozil said, “I have left Madrid with a return ticket to Munich and now do not fly back to Madrid, but to London.”

The German midfielder also credited Arsene Wenger for the switch as he assured Ozil of the transfer and it is common knowledge that the deal was finalized over a phone call. Ozil added, “In some way, That conversation flicked a switch in me and made me realise what I had lost at Madrid: transparency, trust, respect. He told me exactly how I saw myself, how he wanted to use me, what he expected of me.”

“For the transfer fee I cannot do anything. I would even have joined Arsenal for free. I want to win titles , but I ‘ll do anything. That’s my mentality.”

The Spanish media seems keen to smear the name of the German international, but for now, it seems that Ozil is quite happy and well settled at Emirates.
