Hello and welcome to the Premier League transfer news and rumours of the day! Here are the top stories surrounding the Premiership tonight!

Gundogan weighs up options

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundagon has stated that the next contract he signs with the Etihad outfit might be his last big contract. The German joined the Manchester outfit in 2016 and has a contract with the Citizens until 2020.

With just a little over a year left in his contract, there is a chance that he could leave the club this summer when he shall have just a year left in his contract. And according to him, it is perfectly normal for exit rumours to come up when a player is in his last year.

“It’s become the norm that a player who has another year on his contract period has a decision between separation or extension," he said.

He then stated that he could still sign an extension while adding that the next contract he signs could be his last. He also revealed that there have been talks between him and City over a new deal and stated that he is satisfied with his current side but also added that nothing has been decided as of yet.

“I’m a little old-fashioned. It’s possible that I will go to the last year of my contract and then extend.

“Maybe the next one will be my last big contract, so such a decision must be well considered. We have already had one or two talks. I do not feel there is pressure on the subject.

“In sporting terms, I’m very satisfied with City - there are less attractive jobs in Europe! In this regard, there is nothing to prevent an extension. But nothing is decided yet.”

Ramsey didn’t want to stay

Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey reportedly didn’t have any intention of signing a new deal with the Gunners, according to David Ornstein. The Welshman has already signed a pre-contract with Juventus and is set to leave for Turin after the end of the season.

And now, Ornstein has revealed that the Welshman always had the intention of leaving after his contract with the Gunners ended.

“There are a number of people within the game who I speak to who say that Aaron Ramsey had no intention of signing a contract at Arsenal,” Ornstein said.

“He was always planning to leave on a Bosman free at the end of his existing deal.”

Chelsea’s plan to keep Hazard

Chelsea have not yet given up on the possibility of making Eden Hazard sign an extension with them. In fact, according to reports from Spain, Chelsea have a plan to keep the Belgian at the club.

The plan is to first sack Maurizio Sarri, who doesn’t share a good relationship with the Chelsea number 10, and replace him with Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman is close to joining Juventus but Chelsea are still trying to seduce him to London as Hazard has a lot of admiration for the World Cup winner.

Wenger wanted to sign Jadon Sancho

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he wanted to sign former Manchester City starlet Jadon Sancho for Arsenal. The youngster joined Borussia Dortmund last summer and he has been phenomenal for them ever since.

As a result, he has fallen on the radar of top European clubs and Wenger has now revealed that he is one of those players that he almost signed. The Frenchman also praised him for having the “arrogance” to be a player at the top level and stated that it is a necessary attribute to have.

"I wanted to take him from Manchester City when he didn't get the games. I tried to lure him because he's from London. I tried to get him to Arsenal. He's one of the best players of his generation. He can dribble, he has the arrogance,” he said.

"There's something in there that is part of the big players. You can call it arrogance, confidence, belief; but it has to be there."

Manchester City target De Ligt

Manchester City are apparently targeting a move for Ajax captain Matthijs De Ligt in the summer for £75 million. According to reports, Barcelona have dropped out of the race for the Dutchman because they can’t squeeze out the necessary amount for him, meaning Manchester City now have a clear path towards him.
