Rafael Benitez squashes rumours of rift between Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale

Benitez spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and Sam Allardyce

Rafael Benitez recently capitalized on the point Jonathan Barnett made earlier this week, saying Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale didn’t have any problems, according to ESPN. The Spaniard who took over the Santiago Bernabeu this season has been plagued with the questions related to the atmosphere in the dressing room for a while now, and he finally decided to address them last night.

While speaking on a Spanish radio station Onda Cero, he said, "There is no problem between Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. The both of them are very good players and both want to win. The Real Madrid dressing room is much better than people think."

Benitez hits back at Sam Allardyce

Benitez took a jab at Sam Allardyce for questioning his ethics during his time at Liverpool, where he helped the club win a Champions League trophy after 21 years.

"How many titles has Allardyce won? That tells you all," Benitez said. "Allardyce is what happens when you get a book in England... his opinion has little value."

The 55-year old got as angry as he did, because the newly appointed Sunderland manager ridiculed the most important night in Spaniard’s life. Allardyce who had also taken a jab at Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said the following about Benitez, “When we beat his Liverpool team he would complain 'They don't play my type of football.'

"What was that, then? Winning football? He didn't like me and he thought he was superior. Here was a trendy foreign manager with all his smart ideas getting beat by some oik from the Midlands. Benitez wouldn't talk to me at all and that just made it all the better when we won.

Allardyce credited the Champions League victory to Steven Gerrard not Benitez

While Allardyce had already acknowledged the difference between his and Benitez’s achievements, he credited the miracle at Istanbul to Steven Gerrard.

"Of course he can say he won the Champions League with Liverpool, which is something I never did. But it was not to do with him. Steven Gerrard took that final by the scruff of the neck and dragged Liverpool back from 3-0 down against AC Milan to eventually win on penalties.

“I don't blame Benitez for claiming credit – but as managers we know the truth. It's like when you make a substitution in desperation and it comes off. You get all the credit for your tactical brilliance when it's often just luck."
