Who'd take the penalties at Real Madrid, next season?

What's the story?

Belgian talismanic forward Eden Hazard, who recently completed his big-money move to the Santiago de Bernabeu, insists that he'd be happy with Los Blanco's skipper Sergio Ramos taking the penalties, next season.

In case you didn't know...

Since the departure of Real Madrid's highest-ever goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo who joined Italian powerhouse Juventus last summer, Los Blancos skipper, Sergio Ramos has been taking the penalties for the 33-time La Liga champions.

In the last season, the 33-year-old has scored 11 goals from the penalty spot. Out of which, three were scored for Spain and eight for the Galacticos.

However, the 13-time European champions have now signed Eden Hazard, who was presented as a Real Madrid player in the presence of 55,000 Madridistas, who showed up to welcome their new Galactico to the Santiago de Bernabeu.

The heart of the matter

During his first press conference as a Real Madrid player, the Belgian forward was asked whether he'd take the penalty duties next season, to which he replied:

“The captain is a great penalty-taker if he asks me to take them... although I don't think he will (laughs). I imagine he'll keep taking them and he does a great job.”

Talking about football's most prestigious award, the Ballon d'Or, he said:

“This year, the Ballon d'Or winner is at Madrid in Modric. I don't know if it will be easier to win it here but it depends how we play. In recent years, Real Madrid players have won it lots I'm focused on the collective, on helping the team to win and if one day I win the Ballon d'Or, then why not. The most important thing are the titles with Real Madrid."
“You can always improve in football. There are always elements to work on. We all hope we can improve our performances and that will be seen in the games. We'll try and go as high as possible all together. I think I can improve and I believe this team will allow me to go up another level”.

What's next?

With the signings of Rodygo Goes, Luka Jovic, and Eden Hazard, the 13-time European champions have already bolstered their attacking ranks.

It remains to be seen whether there will be more signings or Real Madrid's transfer window is done and dusted even before it starts officially.
