Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones will receive his first-ever senior team call-up when England announce their provisional Euro 2024 squad, as per David Ornstein.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate is expected to announce his provisional squad on Tuesday (May 21). Claiming that he believes Jones is set to be included in the squad while former Reds skipper Jordan Henderson misses out, Ornstein wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

"Jordan Henderson left out of provisional England squad for Euro 2024. Ajax midfielder central to Southgate reign but 33yo not on long list announced later today. Curtis Jones + James Trafford among expected inclusions."

As mentioned earlier, Jones is yet to make a senior international appearance. However, he has represented the England under-21 side on 20 occasions, bagging five goals across competitions.

The 23-year-old saw 14 league starts in Jurgen Klopp's final season at Anfield, where he bagged only one goal and an assist each. He's yet to establish himself as a sure-shot starter in the Liverpool midfield.

With competition from the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch, Jones could find it tough next year as well. Similarly, it seems difficult for the youngster to make England's final squad.

Even if he does, Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden are some of the midfielders who are already ahead of Jones in the pecking order.

Reporter Sami Mokbel stated in February this year that Curtis Jones is among the Liverpool players who are expected to attract the attention of English sides this summer.

Jones has come up the Reds' youth system and found a place in the first team. Speaking about the English midfielder's future, Mokbel told the It’s All Kicking Off podcast (via Football Transfers):

"Curtis Jones heading into the summer. Again another really very good player, but his performances are catching the attention of a number of clubs, I'm told."
"He's at Liverpool, you know, and he's at his hometown club. I don't know his contractual situation off the top of my head, but he's attracting interest from a number of clubs and from English clubs, some clubs in the south."

The midfielder has three years left on his current deal at Anfield. A move to a mid-table team could allow Jones to play more regularly, but it may be something the player is against.
