Unsettled Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is reportedly set to request a move away from the club, as he looks to secure his place in the Belgian World Cup squad. The Evening Standard report that De Bruyne is set on a move away from Stamford Bridge, having become frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities that he has had since returning from last season’s successful loan spell at German side Werder Bremen.

De Bruyne has only started two league games for Chelsea this season, with a further appearance coming from the bench, and is yet to complete 90 minutes for the London side. In a World Cup year, and having had a full season of action in the Bundesliga last year, the Belgian is said to be frustrated at the lack of action and is keen on a January move away from the club.

The Standard reports that having previously insisted that he wanted to stay and fight for his place in the team, De Bruyne had decided to give it until December for the situation to improve. However with chances not forthcoming, he now looks set for a return to Germany.

He impressed in a loan spell at Werder Bremen last season, but is reported to favour a move to Wolfsburg. Such a move is said to be favoured as it would reunite the 22-year-old with the club’s sporting director Klaus Allofs, who held a similar position at Werder Bremen during De Bruyne’s period at the club.
