TAL (Division 2): Gameweek 4 Review

Supernova
Supernova FC kept their winning streak going but were not able to hold on to the top spot

Gameweek 4 of Division 2 saw all the top dogs pick up wins as things are slowly starting to shape up. Parikrma and Supernova FC picked up routine wins against Warriors FC and Phoenix FC to consolidate their position at the top while Diablos FC and Athlos United also picked up wins to keep the pressure on the top two.

Meanwhile, Diego FC beat FC Brunton to pick up their first win of the season. With the season reaching its midway mark, it looks like we have four teams who will fight it out for top honours.

FC Brunton 0 – 1 Diego FC

The first game of the day pitted two evenly matched teams against each other as FC Brunton faced Diego FC. Diego FC who emerged victorious after a solid defensive display while also exerting control over most of the match. FC Brunton would have been hoping to take much more out of this game but failed to do so with a general lack of cohesiveness. The result helps Diego FC climb two places to 7th whereas FC Brunton remain in 5th with much to ponder about.

Supernova FC 3 – 1 Warriors FC

Supernova FC made it four wins out of four when they beat Warriors FC in a good open game. Warriors FC put up some resistance and even pulled back a goal before halftime, but the deficit proved to be a bridge too far for them to cross in the second half. Supernova could not break down the Warriors defence in the second half but had a lot of positive play to take from the game. Warriors FC hang on to 8th place in the table whereas Supernova drops to second albeit only on goal difference.

Parikrma 10 – 3 Phoenix FC

Parikrma ran out winners against Phoenix FC thrashing them 10-3 in the final game before lunch. But, it was not before Phoenix threatened an upset, equalizing immediately after falling behind. Parikrma though took control later on to win this one rather comfortably in spite of conceding two freak goals towards in the final quarter.

Parikrma take pole position from Supernova on goal difference whereas Phoenix drops to 9th. Phoenix FC though has shown massive potential in the last couple of games and look to build on them.

Netbusters 0 – 2 Athlos United FC

Athlos United carved out a victory against Netbusters in the penultimate game of the day to stay in the title race. Netbusters debuted some new signings, but they could not help their team avoid defeat against a well-organised Athlos outfit. Athlos meanwhile, get their campaign back on track through this win and stay hot on the heels of Diablos who are just above them in the standings. Netbusters occupy 6th place in the standings but will be looking to make the leap.

FK FC 0 – 5 Diablos FC

FK FC were handed another drubbing when they fell to a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Diablos FC in the final game of the day. This was a rather comfortable win for Diablos with FK FC rarely threatening to score. Diablos are setting up a strong base, to challenge the top 2 for the title, whereas FK FC are trying to wriggle their way out of the bottom of the table. It remains to be seen if either team can fulfil their respective ambitions.
