TAL Season 3 (Division 1): Gameweek 8 Review

The Mercurial FC team poses for the TAL shutterbug

Flipkart flip the switch on Project

Flipkart picked up an emphatic win against an in-form Project 7 side to pick up all three points. A balanced performance from Flipkart saw contributions from all parts of the field to keep Project 7 at bay.

Mujtabha Magrey and Pavan Powar were excellent up front while Sudeep Dutta dominated the midfield. Project 7 have put in strong performances over the season but failed to find any rhythm in this game and were dominated in every part of the pitch.

With Supernova and Yataghan dropping points, Flipkart find themselves in realistic contention for a top three finish.

Score: Flipkart FC 5-1 Project 7

Parikrma move one step closer to title

Parikrma picked up a routine 2- 0 win over Yataghan Internazionale to move closer to grabbing their first TAL trophy. Nikhil Gopal was outstanding on both ends of the pitch grabbing a brace as well as keeping a clean sheet.

The young defender has a bright future in front of him and has built on his performances from last season. Yataghan Internazionale put in a decent shift but failed to put away the few chances they were presented with. If they are to keep their hopes of a top-three finish alive, they will need to win their remaining games.

Score: Parikrma 2-0 Yataghan Internazionale

Horizons keep title hopes alive

Horizons FC picked up three points against Mavericks FC to stay on the heels of Parikrma in their bid for a second TAL title. They currently are three points behind the leaders but have a match against them on the final day of the league.

Mavericks FC find themselves stuck in the relegation spots and need a miracle if they are to stay in the top division. They have not lived up to the high intensity game they have played in the past but with three games still to go, all hope is not lost.

Score: Horizons FC 2-0 Mavericks FC

Kougen Kikou rise to the occasion

FC Kougen Kikou put in an inspired performance to come from two goals down to snatch all three points against Gremio FC. Gremio started the game strongly and took a two-goal lead into the break, courtesy of Javi Cabrera, but FCKK were the stronger side in the second half and scored three goals in the final quarter of the game.

Yuichi and Nishino put in impressive shifts in midfield to outplay Gremio while Hiroki Akiyama was his old self up front and his pace was too much to handle for the Gremio defence.

Score: Gremio FC 3-4 FC Kougen Kikou

Rare Dare continue march to safety

RDFC picked up an important point when they drew with high-flying Supernova FC. Rare Dare started the season poorly but have since put in some strong performances to change their fortunes.

Steven Harole and Avinash H have added strength and composure to the midfield while Don is thriving in his favoured forward position. Supernova’s title race came to a halt when they lost to Gremio in GW 7 but dropped points here has given Flipkart and Yataghan a chance to break into the top three.

Score: Rare Dare FC 1-1 Supernova FC

Samba see off Mercurial

Samba FC won a close encounter against Mercurial FC in the final game of the day to move up a spot to 8th place. Hemanth Vijaykumar returned to the lineup and scored the only goal of the game to ensure all three points.

Mercurial FC have made additions to the squad over the winter break in a bid to escape relegation but are yet to find enough guile in tactics to outsmart opponents. Both teams are still in the relegation battle and with only three games to go, a bit of luck might be needed especially for Mercurial to escape relegation.

Score: Samba FC 1-0 Mercurial FC
