Video: Bundeslinga Matchweek 1 - Bayer Leverkusen and Dortmund register dominating wins

Bayer Leverkusen were at home to Freiburg in the opening weekend of the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Stefan Kiessling got the scoring underway for the hosts in the 22nd minute after adding a neat header to a looping, deflected free kick.

Mike Hanke levelled just five minutes from the break though, with his low drive pulling Freiburg back into the game.

However, Leverkusen went ahead again just two minutes after the restart, courtesy of Heung-Min Son.

Kiessling turned provider for their third five minutes later, which Sidney Sam promptly converted to wrap up a comfortable 3-1 win for Leverkusen.

Last season’s runners-up, Borussia Dortmund, made the journey to the SGL arena to take on Augsberg in their season opener.

But this time it wasn’t Robert Lewandowski who was the star of the show for Dortmund.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened Dortmund’s account in the 24th minute with a bullet header.

In the second half, Aubameyang struck again – twice.

In the 66th minute he put his side 2-0 up from distance, before sealing his hat-trick in the 79th minute after rounding Mohamed Amsif and then tapping in from close range.

Lewandowski got on the scoresheet in the 86th minute from the penalty spot, but his was a mere cameo in a sparkling performance from Aubameyang in a 4-0 Dortmund win.
