Real Madrid adviser Zinedine Zidane admitted that the Spainish giants will attempt to sign Gareth Bale this summer. The PFA Young Player of the Year and the Player of the Year, with Tottenham Hotspur, has been heavily linked with Real Madrid for more than a year, yet no formal bid has been confirmed between the two sides. However, Zidane underlined Madrid’s intent of signing their potential target by expressing that even a lofty price tag of more than £60 million won’t keep Madrid in attempting a move for the Welsh winger.

The French legend, who has been key to Real Madrid’s transfer scheme for the past couple of seasons said, “After the season he has just had and still being so young, Gareth Bale is going to be one of the most expensive players in the world if he decides to move,” Zidane is quoted in several British newspapers.

“Tottenham could command £40 million, £50 million maybe even £60 million for him. It is a lot of money, but there are maybe three or four teams in the world that can pay that sort of transfer fee and it won’t put them off.

“A player like Bale can be the difference between a big club winning the league or Champions League. They would be getting the best player in Europe this season and he is at an age where he can still play at the top for another ten years.

“What I like about him is that he has this electric pace, but also a big footballing brain to go with it. That is very rare.”

Zidane’s statement reflects confidence from the Madrid management on being able to crack this deal at the end of the season. With the rumors suggesting that Mourinho’s departure could coincide Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from the club, Gareth Bale could act as a like-for-like replacement for the Spanish side.
