Real Madrid and France legend Zinedine Zindane has confessed that he the sum paid by Real Madrid for the transfer of Gareth Bale is “incomprehensible” and went on to say that no player is worth so much money. Zidane also stated that Gareth Bale should not feel the pressure of the astronomical sum paid for his services. Sky Sports reports.

The Welsh wizard signed a six-year deal with Spanish giants Real Madrid, with the club paying €100 million to Tottenham Hotspur for the player.

Zidane himself joined Real Madrid for a record fee of €75 million in 2001 from Italian club Juventus.

When asked by the Canal Plus if player was worth so much money the 41-year old responded saying: You need to ask that question in a year’s time.

“Ten years ago, they bought me for 75million euros and I said I wasn’t worth it.

“Today, I tend to say a player is not worth that. Two clubs agree on a price and no-one is forcing the other to do anything.

“That’s football. Unfortunately, it’s incomprehensible with what’s happening today to pay so much.”

The former France international is confident that Bale with make it big at Real Madrid and is willing to offer the midfielder his input.

“My role will certainly be to tell him that he plays as he knows how to, to not put too much pressure on himself,” he said.

“He has an incredible potential but he still has room for improvement.”

Bale is expected to make his Real Madrid debut on September 14 against Villareal when he returns from international duty with the Welsh national team.
