Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward expansion release date revealed

The expansion will introduce three new jobs, the Dark Knight, the Astrologian and the Machinist

Final Fantasy XIV players will be happy to know that the release date for the games upcoming expansion has now been revealed. Square Enix has announced that the much anticipated Heavensward expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be debuting on June 23rd, 2015. The game is a relaunch of the original Final Fantasy XIV, and has garnered millions of subscribers since its release back in 2013. The expansion will be adding a ton of new content to the game, such as new zones, flying mounts, three new jobs and more.

The expansion will include new cinematic’s for a brand new story involving the Holy See of Ishgard and the thousand-year Dragonsong War. The developers will also be introducing a new playable race, called the Au Ra, with the Heavensward expansion. Not much is known about the new race, except for the fact that they hail from the continent of Othard.

Besides this, the expansion will also contain three new jobs, namely the astrologian, the machinist and the Dark Knight. The astrologian is a healer job, the Machinist is a ranged DPS, while the Dark Knight is a tank. Players will also have the chance to obtain new flying mounts and gears as well as partake in high-end raids. But if you are interested in the new raids, then you’ll have some catching up to do as the games level-cap will be raised by ten levels, from 50 to 60.

Heavensward is the games first ever expansion and will be releasing on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on June 23rd. The title will also support cross-platform gameplay between systems.
