'Tale of Tales' releases first screenshots for 'Sunset'

A Screenshot from Sunset

Developers Tale of Tales have released the first screenshots of their upcoming narrative-driven title Sunset. The Screenshots for the game seem very saturated and stylish with a 70s vibe, very unlike the dark murky world of their previous title, The Path.

The first-person exploration game has players take on the role of Angela Burnes, a housekeeper of a philanthropist Gabriel Ortega. The game takes place entirely in a lone 1970’s apartment during a fictional South American country that witnesses a military coup.

Angela is eventually sucked into a revolutionary plot against the country’s new notorious dictator Generalísimo Ricardo Miraflores. So players will basically have to snoop around the apartment to learn more about Burnes employer while doing some light housework on the side.

Sunset was announced back in March 2014 and has earned over $67,000 in Kickstarter funds in July. It will also feature a soundtrack by Journey’s Grammy nominated composer, Austin Wintory. Tale of Tales’ Auriea Harvey has noted that the screens are "still work in progress and even though they do not represent the final beauty of the game, they say a lot about what is going to make the penthouse a spectacular environment to explore."

"All Tale of Tales games have a really subtle stylisation that may not look real but once you are in these environments, they feel real," Harvey explains in a recent press release. "To pull off this effect in Sunset we’ve pushed the colour scheme to its saturation point with the tones of the evening sky, chic lighting from designer lamps and dramatic shadows."

The game will be arriving this spring on the PC, Mac, and Linux.
