Copa America Final: Uruguay vs Paraguay (My Thoughts)

We certainly didn’t see this final coming. Most would have predicted a final between the two South American giants Brazil and Argentina, but neither even made it into the semi finals.

But looking at these two sides, they can still be considered the two best performing South American teams in the World Cup last year. Uruguay managed a 4th place and Paraguay went down to eventual champions Spain in the quarter finals.

Who I think will win the CA 2011

Well, if it’s going to be won in regulation time, I say Uruguay, but if Paraguay hold it all the way to the penalty shootouts, I think that they will go through. Why I say that? Because you can tell the Paraguay have the nerve and technique ready for the shootout.

And why I say that Uruguay will win in regulation time? I simply think that their side is more organized and their players are more livewire, players such as Suarez, Forlan and they have a good young defender in Coates at the back, so I am backing them to win it.

Importance of this match

Well, first of all, the winners of the final will get to represent South America in the Confederations Cup in Brazil come 2013. Second reason is solely for Uruguay as winning the Copa America would mean that they were go one ahead of Argentina in terms of Copa America triumphs.
