That concludes the 5th game of the Road Safety World Series 2021 - and the first game this year. A one-sided contest but it was great to see the tournament picking up from where it left off last year and we hope that it rolls on even better in the coming days. Tomorrow's encounter sees Sri Lanka Legends locking horns with the West Indies Legends at the same venue. Loads of superstars in the ranks of both those teams as well so do join us as we bring you all the updates here on Sportskeeda. Thank you so much for joining in for this game. On behalf of my colleague Bala, this is Sooryanarayanan taking your leave. Good night and stay safe!
See the ball, hit the ball - a simple and effective approach that Virender Sehwag followed back in his hay day and didn't he live up to that tonight! The win tonight makes it three in three for India Legends as they sit atop the points table. Bangladesh Legends will have to shrug off their rustiness and come back stronger as the tournament progresses.
Virender Sehwag (Man of the Match): I was a little surprised; I was expecting a full house since the Indian team and Sachin were playing. Hopefully in the next game we will see a bigger crowd. Loved batting with Sachin Tendulkar - brought back a lot of memories from the World Cup. Sachin told me that we have to finish it quickly; I also wanted to finish it soon and relax in the hotel room. My batting is simple - see the ball, hit the ball. If you think too much, you will complicate things too much. Throughout my career I used to tell myself to just see the ball and play straight.
Sachin Tendulkar (India Legends Captain): For many many years I've had the best seat when Viru was batting and I thoroughly enjoyed it. At one stage he came and apologized after he took a single off the last ball. They got off to a very good start but our spinners brought us back into the game. Ojha, Yusuf and Yuvi got us wickets. I felt that the wicket had a bit of stickiness and the spinners proved me right. Always a pleasure to wear the blue - add a bit of yellow to it for a cause. We are glad to be able to spread a message through this tournament.
Khaled Mahmud (Bangladesh Legends Vice-Captain): Disappointing after putting up a good score in the first 6 overs. It was a good wicket to bat on but the ball stopped on the wicket as the spinners came on. Still a good start for the tournament overall. Felt great to be back on the park after many years. Sehwag batted like he was batting during his younger days. It was a terrific display from him
An absolute clinic put up by India Legends. They've picked up from where they left off a year ago when the tournament was brought to an abrupt halt owing to the pandemic! This is their third win in the competition and how well have they played! The toss went against them but they wouldn't have been too disappointed to have bowled first. Their seamers got the ball to move on a green deck but they were a little off their radar as the Bangladeshi opener, led by Mohammed Nazimuddin, picked their spots and cashed in on the hit-me deliveries to propel their team to 50 in the Powerplay. But that's just about all that they could salvage since post that, the Indian spinners came on and pulled the plug on the Bangladeshi batting lineup. Pragyan Ojha was immaculate and along with Yuvraj Singh, derailed their opponents. Wickets fell like dominoes as Bangladesh Legends succumbed to a paltry 109 without lasting the entirety of their 20 overs.

In response, well, there was only one way Virender Sehwag was going to come out and that was all guns blazing! 19 off the first over including a trademark first-ball boundary and he made his intentions clear. An absolute no-nonsense innings from the powerful opener as he reached his half-century off just 20 deliveries. Tendulkar too, used the time machine to good effect as he brought out some of his trademark shots - the backfoot punch through the covers being one of them. The Bangladeshi bowlers were rusty and had no answer to the carnage from the Indians as the game ended with a six from Sehwag with a mammoth 59 deliveries to spare!
Tendulkar and Sehwag embrace each other and walk off with wide grins on their faces! Wider will be the smiles on the faces of all those who turned up at the ground to witness this iconic duo in action again! India Legends win by 10 wickets with 59 deliveries to spare!
Over: 11 | Summary: 6 Bowler: Khaled Mahmud Score: 0/0
10.1 Khaled Mahmud to Virender Sehwag, SIX! Finishes it off in Sehwag's own style! Short of a length delivery, goes back and pulls it over the cow corner fence for a maximum
That's a top over from Rafique. A very defensive line from over the wicket and he deprived the batsmen of enough room to flex their muscles. Just a couple of runs to get though so it's a case of delaying the inevitable
Over: 10 | Summary: 0 0 0 1 0 1lb Bowler: Mohammad Rafique Score: 108/0
9.6 Mohammad Rafique to Virender Sehwag, comes down the track but misses the ball, the ball ricochets off the pads to short thirdman
9.5 Mohammad Rafique to Virender Sehwag, goes across and plays the lap sweep but it is straight to short fineleg
9.4 Mohammad Rafique to Sachin Tendulkar, good length ball, pushes at it but it turns and bounces a bit extra, gets more of a leading edge to long-off
9.3 Mohammad Rafique to Sachin Tendulkar, low full toss on the middle stump, gets the toe end of the bat back to the bowler
9.2 Mohammad Rafique to Sachin Tendulkar, full on middle and leg, tries to take the front leg away and drive it down the ground, mistimes it back to the bowler
9.1 Mohammad Rafique to Sachin Tendulkar, full ball outside the off-stump, drives it straight to extra cover
Surely the final over of the game... Right?
Just when it seemed like Sehwag was tiring having failed to middle the ball well on a couple of occasions, he pummels one straight over the bowler's head. Just one hit away from sealing the game. Yet, we have a timeout! Very well!
