Scorecard
At the end Royal Roma, dominated the game, and won it, in a pretty one sided affair, at least in the second half of the game. Royal Roma pick up their second win, and stay alive in the hunt for the semi finals, whereas Lanka Kent find themselves at the foot of the table, finding it impossible to qualify from here. That's all from the ECS today, but do join us tomorrow for another action packed day in Rome. For now, switch tabs to the India England game, as I, Ankit Sharma and Maanas Upadhyay bid you farewell!
Lanka then came into bat, under pressure to score big from the start to keep up with the required run rate, but their opener failed to do so, was clean bowled on the very first legal delivery, to start the innings with a hurdle. From there Roma capitalized on the momentum, kept bowling in the right areas, kept bowling tight lines, and did a fantastic job to not let runs come in easy. Dinesh and Danushka kept busy taking in singles and an odd boundary at times, but couldn't keep up with the run rate. Although they spent some time in the middle, when time came for them to go big, they couldn't clear the ropes and were caught for poor shots. After that the asking rate was just too much for the injured Shanka to come and make a difference. Kudos to him for giving his all, but his top order were just not up to the competition.
Royal Roma pick up their second victory of the tournament, and are alive in this competition, whereas Kent Lanka have yet again failed to perform at the right time. Royal Roma won the toss, elected to bat, their top order had a failure today credits to Shanka picking up 4 wickets, but their lower order made sure they remain alive, with a terrific couple of knocks from Reddy and Munir to breach that three figure mark. Kent Lanka started the game in the most perfect way, walking through the top order for fun, but tumbled upon those two in the second half of their bowling spell. It looked like a different wicket altogether, and Roma took advantage and picked up almost 90 runs in latter 5 overs, to finish with a handsome total on board.
A couple of late boundaries in the innings for Kent Lanka, but it's too late for them to pick these runs. The middle overs were crucial for them to score runs, and keep the run rate intact, but they couldn't cope up with the score board pressure and have succumbed for another loss. Royal Roma win by 35 runs
