Tye Ruotolo ready to join twin brother Kade as a ONE world champion: “The time has come”

American submission grappling phenom Tye Ruotolo has been waiting a long time for this moment – to join his twin brother Kade as a ONE world champion.

Kade is the reigning and undisputed ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion, and in just a couple of weeks’ time, Tye will get the chance to join him as a world champion in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

Tye Ruotolo is set to face dangerous Dagestani Magomed ‘Wolf’ Abdulkadirov in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade on Prime Video, which broadcasts live from the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, November 3rd.

The bout will be for the inaugural ONE welterweight submission grappling world title.

Speaking to YouTube channel, The MMA Superfan, in a recent interview, Ruotolo says now is the time for him to capture gold.

“So we [me and Kade] are always so competitive, but yeah for sure he's been wanting me to get the belt. Everything happens for a reason, so the time has come and I'm ready to take it.”

Ruotolo joined ONE Championship in May of 2022, making his debut with a quick submission of BJJ phenom-turned-MMA-fighter Garry ‘The Lion Killer’ Tonon via D’arce choke. Since then, he has gone 4-0 in ONE Championship, including submission victories over Marat Gafurov and Dagi Arslanaliev, as well as a decision victory over former two-division MMA world champion ‘The Dutch Knight’ Reinier de Ridder.

Meanwhile, his twin brother Kade has followed a similar trajectory, but took home the gold in just his second fight for the promotion, defeating Uali Kurzhev to capture the ONE lightweight submission grappling belt.

If Tye can defeat Abdulkadirov at ONE Fight Night 16, the Ruotolo twins will be simultaneous world champions in ONE.
