Aaron Jones is an American football running back for the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL as of 2024. Born on December 2, 1994, Jones was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he became the most prolific rusher in the program's history. During his time with the UTEP Miners from 2013 to 2016, Jones set multiple school records, including most career rushing yards (4,114), most 100-yard rushing games (17), and most 200-yard games (5).

In his senior season, Jones racked up 1,773 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns, cementing his place as one of the top running backs in UTEP history. He also recorded 301 rushing yards in his final collegiate game, the second-most in school history. Following his impressive college career, Jones transitioned to the NFL in 2017 with the Green Bay Packers. He quickly became a key player for the team, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2020 and leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns in 2019.

Aaron Jones ran a 4.56-second 40-yard dash at his pro day in 2017. Although this time wasn't the fastest among running backs, it didn't hinder his career. The former UTEP player tied for second out of 30 running backs in the 2017 draft class for a vertical jump of 37.5 inches. Meanwhile, he placed 19th in the bench press with 16 reps on 225 pounds, and in the cone drills Jones ranked in the 89th percentile. His impressive college performance at UTEP, marked by record-breaking rushing yards and touchdowns, showcased his on-field abilities. Jones lacked the ideal speed for a running back but he made up for it with his arm length and quickness and swiftness on his movements. He is also very athletic and can jump over taller defenders to make difficult catches. Jones’ vertical jump ranks at the 83rd percentile with a 37-and-a-half-inch vert, whereas his broad jump ranks at the 92nd percentile.
