Aaron Rodgers

Former Green Bay Packers legend, Aaron Charles Rodgers, popularly known as Aaron Rodgers, is an American professional football player who plays for the New York Jets of the NFL. The Super Bowl XLV champion, Rodgers, is the recipient of 4 MVP awards. Rodgers played football at Butte College in Oroville, California, before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft with their 24th overall pick. He spent more than a decade with the Packers and played for them for 17 years before getting traded to the New York Jets in 2023.

He was the starting quarterback for his high school team, Pleasant Valley High School, and led the team to a state championship in 2001. The 4-times NFL passing leader played 2 years with the California Golden Bears Football team and broke the school record for the lowest percentage of passes intercepted at 1.43% in the 2003 season. The 10-time pro bowler holds California Golden Bears career record for lowest percentage of passes intercepted at 1.95%. The 4-time NFL passer rating leader has passed for more than 59,000 yards in his 19-year career as a pro.

Even though Aaron is 40 years old, he does not plan to retire as of 2024. However, fans do wonder if father time is approaching for the 10-time pro bowler.

Has Aaron Rodgers decided on when he wants to retire?

Aaron Rodgers is 40 years old as of September 2024, and he signed a 3-year contract with the New York Jets in 2023. As far as retirement goes, Aaron says that he has always thought about what retirement may look like for him but it is not going to in 2024 at least.

There are however some factors as to why Aaron may retire soon and they are;

  1. His age: He is currently 40 years of age and in NFL or athletic terms, that’s old. He has had a very long career thus far and retirement may be right around the corner.

  2. His Contract: He signed a three-year deal with the Jets in 2023 but his long-term commitment is not known.

  3. Health and Injuries: Even though he has had a long career without many injuries, he suffered a season-ending injury in 2023, which raised some questions surrounding his retirement as injuries take more time to heal at 40 than in his 20s and 30s.

What Aaron Rodgers brings to the Jets

Aaron Rodgers is a proven winner and even if he has failed to lead the Packers to more than one Super Bowl victory, he has seen tremendous regular-season success over the years. This is something the Jets have been missing for a good number of years and thus with Rodgers under center, they have a great chance of making the playoffs in 2024.

Furthermore, with so many seasons out of the postseason, the Jets are in a win-now mode. And for that who better than a 19-year-old veteran with multiple NFL MVPs to his name?
