Before that, he played for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (North Carolina A&T) from 2021 to 2022. In 2025, he participated in the NFL Scouting Combine. Tuten played two seasons at North Carolina A&T before transferring to Virginia Tech for the 2023 season. At Virginia Tech, he played 24 games and recorded 2,022 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns.
